• Scholarship Program

Everyone should have the basic right to pursue education. For those living in orphanages, realizing this dream is very difficult because once they turn 18 years of age, they are expected to leave the orphanages with minimal, if any, further assistance. Without shelter, monetary assistance or employment, these young adults are set for life of hardship and failures.

Our program addresses the existing gap between life at the orphanage and “independent 18 year old young adults” to decrease the existing tendency of orphaned children falling into poverty and delinquency. In this program, we have also included marginalized youth living outside of the orphanages or those with unemployed parents who are unable to secure their education.

All students selected to our program go through a very demanding selection process: we look at their grades, written essay, recommendation letters, extracurricular activities, their financial circumstances, and finally an interview to determine their readiness and sincere willingness to obtain higher education. Once selected into our scholarship program, we cover: all costs associated with their schooling, housing when needed, a small monthly stipend, and each student gets a personal development fund that they can use towards training courses, etc. To maintain the scholarship, students have to maintain excellent academic standing, perform a number of community service hours and submit monthly and quarterly reports.

Through our scholarship program, we strive to stipulate some form of community service which we believe instills in the students a keen responsibility for building relationships with civic groups in society, maintaining a high level of community involvement and becoming invested in the future of the BiH.

    • 150KM monthly stipend ($100).
    • Paid housing when necessary.
    • All university costs covered.
    • Occasional employment and internship opportunities.
    • Personal development fund.
    • Weekly correspondence with students
    • Individual Mentors assigned to students based on common professions hobbies and other interests.

    • Complete 10hr/month of volunteer hours.

  • Students For Humanity

In 2015, at their initiative, BOSANA students started a project called "Student for humanity".

The idea was born during one of the annual student gatherings, and it was gladly welcomed among everyone. Inspired by BOSANA itself and motivated to become a positive change in society, students decided to create a fund to help others in need. Each month, students donate two Bosnian marks form their scholarship to the fund and Bosana matches the amount. Some of the graduate students are still donating to the fund even though they don't receive the scholarship anymore. Students would choose donation candidates in their neighbourhoods and their cities, and more than often it was very hard to narrow down the choice. Across the whole BiH, students were mostly buying food and medicine to elders and school equipment and books to kids.
The project is still ongoing and the funds are collected each month. We are waiting impatiently for the next student action and next idea of how to help someone with their funds.

  • Youth Social entrepreneurship

Pairing Youth – Empowering Coexistence is a project done in partnership with Youth for Peace BiH (NGO working on peacebuilding activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and sponsored by the US Embassy in BiH.

The objective of this 10-month project was training thirty BOSANA students, from different ethnic backgrounds and different parts of BiH, to understand and deal with current complex conditions of the BiH society. Students were thought how to create, promote and live their narrative of coexistence as young citizens of this country. Through the project, students had the opportunity to develop skills that will help them to share what they have learned, leading a project or a workshop in their community. They experienced project management and what means to be responsible for a group of people and share knowledge with them.
