International Day of Women and Girls in Science

January 30th, 2023

In a time when material things dominate other values, it is refreshing to look around yourself and be surrounded by women who embody femininity, morality, love, and incredible power. The role of women has always been immeasurable, and they are simply the pillar of everything.

We could write endlessly about successful women we are surrounded by; this time, we will focus on just one strong woman. She is a daughter, wife, friend, Ph.D., director, and a strong woman. We will talk about a female scientist without even mentioning her name. He dedicated her career to helping others, first as an infectious disease specialist. In 1996 she started working in a non-governmental sector in Tuzla canton. Under her leadership, over two decades, positive life stories have been successfully written. Their primary goal was to help refugee women from Podrinje. Those women were suffocating under the weight of the losses they had endured. It was a courageous move to handle such pain, but this strong woman we are writing about believed in the strength of those women whom she decided to be the most significant support. We can proudly say SHE MADE IT! She gave a new meaning to women's lives running out of strength; she believed in them when no one else did.

The association "Snaga žene" primarily provides psychological, social, medical, and economic help. They are trying to improve women's lives by organizing various projects and activities. "Snaga žene" is also the founder of a big project named "Zelena mreža." This project accurately indicates women's strength, where one woman created economic certainty for her colleagues. It is impossible not to feel that love and power around those women. We are sure their story will be written for a long time and become even more successful.

"Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood." These are Marie Curie's words, a double Nobel Prize winner.

Female scientists from all around the world invented a medicine for serious illnesses, explored space, and helped us understand the structure of DNA. Women and girls often lead prominent researches that significantly impact humanity.

Through stereotypes in all aspects of our societies, women declaring as the "weaker sex," but they can indeed be firm when needed as anyone else; they express all the beauty of their being while just being themselves.

Let's make the stereotypes stop, and let women create and change the world, the way they have been doing it for ages, but this time let's give them credit for that.
