Student Stories

BOSANA is my inspiration

April 11th, 2020

I am Enesa Hrustić and I grew up in a small town Vitez in Central Bosnia, and I am a Bosana student since September 2019. As of my early childhood, I showed an interest in mathematics and physics, but as part of growing up process one inevitable question always popped up – is this really the right call for me?

As a high school came close to the end everybody was excited and scared at the same time - which faculty to enrol, moving away from our homes, new challenges, all those things were creating quite a mess in our heads. I would be lying if I say that I wasn't scared too.

A few months passed and the good news came, I managed to enrol at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Sarajevo! It was one of the biggest self-made goals that I achieved. Then I set myself another goal, to discover my passion besides the faculty.

That is where BOSANA came in. As a BOSANA student, I started volunteering in SOS Children Village and my role is to conduct extra maths lessons for the kids. Few weeks in I realized that helping others to learn something new inspires me and helps me see things from two different perspectives – from the perspective of a teacher and the perspective of a student. I am trying to build a better approach when it comes to my teaching. I am focused on understanding how the kids are thinking, and at the same time, how can I learn to study with understanding. So benefits go both ways, and I think I am developing a new skill, teaching.

Thank you Bosana for the great opportunity I got. In the end, I must mention a gathering that we had a few months ago. I heard a lot of inspiring and funny stories that will keep me going forward. As a conclusion, these last few months turned to be the most inspiring moths I had so far.
