Art is my passion

May 2nd, 2021

Everyone could say that I am really into technology, because of the faculty I am studying, but today, I am going to tell you more about my other big passion.

Since I could hold a pencil, I was amazed by how many different things you can make just with a piece of wood and graphite, and some paper. People always told me I was a gifted kid, but I just enjoyed drawing very much. Well, sometimes even too much!

About the age of fourteen, I would often find myself drawing for hours without even realizing it. I figured that drawing was a peace to me, not so much a break from reality, I felt like it was my actual reality.

I drew mainly with graphite pencils, while sometimes including some color. My drawings became the thing I most often gave as gifts because they meant so much to me. I guess, the time and effort you put into it make it feel more personal and valuable.

My school colleagues offered to pay me to draw them. I was so honored and amazed that somebody would pay for my art. Soon enough, most of my classmates and family members started asking for personalized portraits, and as I continued doing them, the love for art grew even more. Pocket money that I earned by selling my drawings made it so much easier for my family when we went through some bigger issues, and of course now when I am in college it makes a big difference.

Today, 6 years later, I can only guess how many portraits I have made so far, probably over a hundred. Most of them took more than 10 hours of work, and every time I look through pictures of all of them, I feel so grateful that people choose me to draw them or their loved ones. The joy of giving somebody a gift that special, pushes me to learn more and draw better.

I am trying to experiment more with colors and different mediums, but black and white graphite portraits will always be my favorite style. Being a Bosana student gives me more opportunities and possibilities to expand my knowledge and drawing skills, it is what keeps me motivated and makes me work even harder.
