Meet Saima
Saima Zahirović, a medicine student at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tuzla.
“As a little child, I had already known that I would be the one who would take care of others. Medicine is my life and I will give my best to do it properly. I am a fifth-year student but I still have not decided on my specialization.”- says Saima.
Before university, she studied at Secondary Nursing school in Gračanica. She was an excellent student during secondary school education and, apart from studying, she also attended extra curriculum classes such as First Aid, Chemistry, Biology, Science and a lot of other activities. In that period of her life, she won first place in Chemistry regional and state competitions as a member of the First Aid school.
Saima is good at writing and was also a member of the Dance Club. She always had a lot of interests and developed early a lot of skills, including sport and voluntary work. She is a member of NGOs in a country as well.
As a Medical student, she studies a lot and she is a part of student organizations that take care of public health. She works at a project “Special Olimpic Games "Parallel" as a leader. She also takes part in a lot of Science projects which are organized and held in Tuzla and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as "Health and Vaccination" and "Tuzla Brain Week".
As a part of the biggest student organizations "Medicus" and "BoHeMSA", Saida participated in the projects whose main aim is to promote public health. Some of them are "Teddy bear hospital", "Stop cervical cancer", "World Down's syndrome day" and one of Saima’s favourite "Talk to me about health".
In 2019 she had the opportunity to go for Erasmus exchange of students in Poland where she had an amazing experience and got additional motivation for her work in the future. “In my free time, I also go to medical congress, workout, spend time with my friends and read books.”-says Saima.
